I’m Annie Thorne and I’m working hard to become Edgmont Township’s next Supervisor
I’m a proud mother of two and a small business owner. I’ve served on my neighborhood’s Civic Association for eight years and I co-founded Connect Edgmont, a group promoting outdoor recreation, open space & community building.
I feel a strong connection to and responsibility for my community and I want to dedicate my time, experience and ideas to ensure that Edgmont Township will be the best place to live, work, and raise a family not just now, but also ten or twenty years from now.

I’ve lived in this area my whole life.
I grew up about a mile north of the Giant shopping center in the Newtown Square section of Willistown Township. I met my husband, Matt, at Haverford College and we purchased our forever home in Okehocking Hills twelve years ago. We love that our home is near our families, jobs and Ridley Creek State Park.

Proud Mother of Two
Matt and I have two kids, Kenzie and Connor. We feel fortunate to be raising them in a great neighborhood with dozens of young children. As public school kids ourselves, we look forward to someday sending Kenzie and Connor to RTM schools.
Anyone who’s seen me recently probably recognizes baby Connor, who joins me for every township meeting and campaign event!

Small Business Owner
Together with my brother, Matt and I own and operate a small manufacturing business in Edgmont near the intersection of Providence Road and Rt 3. We make high intensity searchlights which are used to protect our military and critical infrastructure around the world.
My official title is Director of Sales and Marketing, but, like many small business owners, I wear many hats. I also handle my company’s payroll, purchasing, accounts receivables and payables, and human resources. I even help out on the manufacturing floor when times are busy.

Community Leader
I am an avid runner and hiker. In 2021 I co-founded the Connect Edgmont community group to share my love of the outdoors and advocate for outdoor recreation, open space and community building in Edgmont Township.
Since then, I’ve led nearly 20 public hikes and communicated on a regular basis with hundreds of Township residents on topics including the proposed elementary school, the ongoing Recreation, Open Space and Trails Plan, and local events.

Engaged in our Municipal Government
I’ve attended over fifty township meetings since 2021. I’ve listened to conditional use hearings, followed zoning ordinance updates and was the only member of the public to attend the township’s 2023 budget hearing. I have engaged with township staff, participated in the rewriting of Edgmont’s Recreation, Trails and Open Space Plan, and communicated relevant information to residents via Connect Edgmont.
I am familiar with the active projects, existing challenges and future possibilities in Edgmont Township and I have the skillset, energy and background to make real progress and get things done.
I pledge to:
Promote more transparency in the decision-making process
I will serve as a reliable source of information for residents regarding current projects and issues in the township. I’ll ensure all applicants are treated fairly and actions are justified and clearly explained.
Proactively plan to preserve open space
Edgmont must document long-term plans now so that when developers inevitably propose new projects, we are poised to maximize open space and recreation opportunities that will benefit the entire community.
Ensure services and infrastructure keep pace with our growing community
Once Ventry and Runnymeade Phase VII are complete, Edgmont will have already doubled the growth our 2015 Comprehensive Plan anticipated we’d have by 2040. That’s more than twice the growth in half the time.
Current and future growth should be accompanied by efforts to improve public safety, mitigate traffic, and find a solution for the overcrowded schools Edgmont children currently attend.
Bring a fresh perspective and new energy to the Board of Supervisors
Although many of the partisan issues we see on a national level are completely irrelevant to local government, it is valuable to note that I’m a Democrat. The two sitting Supervisors are Republicans. Representation of both parties matters and a variety of opinions on the Board will breed new ideas.
Furthermore, I am not a developer or a real estate professional like so many of our township officials. I am a parent and a business owner, and I care deeply about our community.
